This VIKING 1740 Series auto-darkening helmets have a perfect EN379 - 1/1/1/1 optical clarity rating. This test measures the performance of the auto-darkening filter on four separate optical categories. Rugged, lightweight, VIKING solar-powered auto-darkening helmets are loaded with features. This helmet features continuously variable shade control and is solar powered with battery assist that takes away the need for an on/off switch to remember. Hard hat adapter capable and this includes 2 replaceable AAA alkaline batteries, 2 inside cover lenses, and 5 outside cover lenses.

The helmet is comfortable, and the clarity is excellent. Had a great experience working with the Welding Store as well. I received an old e-mail by mistake with a long-expired sale price on the helmet, and they honored the price anyway and made the ordering process easy for me. Helmet arrived right on time.

There is a difference. Compared to my old hood this is like driving a luxury car compared to a Kia. Also the Welding store was fast to ship. Even though it was out of stock I received the hood in less than a week.
